A resource to explain common elements found in placenames is now available.
To access the information, click on ‘Glossary’ in the top right-hand corner of each page.
An explanation of common elements in placenames, such as ‘baile’ and ‘cill’, can be seen on this page. In addition, common elements are explained on the placename page itself under the title ‘Glossary’.
